Following the Minister’s visit to Anse aux Pins and Au Cap Primary
Schools, a meeting was held with teachers from the two schools this afternoon.
The meeting was chaired by Minister Jeanne Simeon.
Amongst the delegation there was also the Principal Secretary for
Education, Primary and Secondary Education Dr Odile de Comarmond.
Aim of the meeting is to see how the Ministry can assist and give more
support to the schools. During the meeting, teachers raised various concerns.
Some of the issues are: query about the scheme of service; the appraisal
system; teacher retention; re-organisation of time tables; discipline, to name
During her address to the teachers, Minister Simeon stated that “Our
school is like a family. We need to work together, be united”.
She further spoke about the necessity for teachers to inculcate values
and respect in the society.
The Minister further re-inforced that “We all have one aim-which is, the
progress of our students”.
