The Ministry of Education in collaboration with UNESCO, International Bureau of Education (IBE) is organizing a four-day workshop on Capacity building in Competency Based Approach (CBA) to Curriculum Design from 16th-19th February at the ICCS. The workshop was official opened by the Principal Secretary for Early Childhood Primary and Secondary, Mrs M Delcy on Tuesday 16th February at 8.30 am which was attended by Minister Mondon, PS Barallon, Director of IBE Dr M Marope, 3 IBE Consultants, officials of the Ministry and workshop participants.
This workshop is a follow up of the General Education Quality Analysis Framework (GEQAF) workshop held in July 2015.
The main objective of the workshop is to familiarize participants with theories and methodologies of Competency Based approach (CBA). The participants will also acquire knowledge and skills in the design and development of Competency-Based curriculum. Dr Lili Ji, Lori Rabinovitch and Dr Amapola from UNESCO International Bureau of Education (IBE) in Geneva are facilitating the workshop.
Over 50 educators involved in curriculum design are participating in the workshop. Dr M Marope Director of IBE made the keynote address.
During the mission Dr Marope will also hold working sessions with Ministry officials and other education stakeholders on the establishment of Seychelles as an ECCE (Early Childhood Care and Education) for the Region for GEQAF countries and on the IBE's initiative in partnership with Google, to support selected GEQAF partners to foster joint quality education and learning improvement by adopting a technology perspective to education.
