The University of Seychelles through funding and support from the GEF Small Grants Programme, the contributions of EEAS members, the Ministry of Education, MEECC and the Ministry of Finance, Trade and the Blue Economy will host the country's first conference on Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) on Tuesday August 30th and Wednesday August 31st, 2016, at the Anse Royale Campus.
The purpose of this conference is to bring stakeholders in ESD together to examine our achievements, the challenges being experienced at present, and the way forward, with a special focus on partnerships to link formal and informal education sectors.
The two-day long conference program includes presentations, hands on workshops, and displays by many local environmental and sustainable development organisations, providing numerous opportunities for networking and sharing among participants.
The conference will provide an opportunity for Seychellois educators involved in different aspects of ESD, to relate what is happening in Seychelles to UNESCO's Global Action Program for ESD launched in 2015.
The conference is being coordinated by the Environment Education Association of Seychelles (EEAS) in collaboration with other partners.
Participants will include community and youth leaders, teachers, journalists, faith leaders, NGOs, HR specialists, and interested members of the public.
Please see the attached poster for more details about the conference.
