Two senior officials from the University of Vocational Technology undertook a familiarization visit at the Seychelles Institute for Technology at the invitation of the Ministry of Education. The two officials were Dr Don Suraweera, the Dean of the Faculty of Industrial and Vocational Technology, and Mr Pinnawale Jayathilaka, Head of the Electrical and Electronics Department from the University Of Vocational Technology Of Sri Lanka.
The familiarization visit was undertaken within the context of the Education Medium Term Strategy to establish strategic partnership between national and international institutions of higher learning to further promote the quality of national tertiary education and training system.
The main objective of this familiarization visit was for the Seychelles Institute of Technology (SIT) and the University of Vocational Technology to identify areas for future cooperation.
A key dimension of this visit was the presentation on the Seychelles Institute of Technology on Tuesday 23rd August 2016 followed by a tour and discussion with the members of the SIT Governing Board. During the week the delegation met with senior officials from the Ministry of Education and also key partners of the Seychelles Institute of Technology. As part of their programme they also met the Minister of Education, Mrs Macsuzy Mondon on Thursday 25th August 2016.
This mission was a follow up of the official visit that the Minister for Education, Mrs Macsuzy Mondon had in Sri Lanka in 2014 whereby she visited a number of educational institutions of higher learning and where the University of Vocational Technology was identified as a possible partner for cooperation with the Seychelles Institute of Technology.
