12 Jan 2017 - The Principal Secretary for Education, Dr. Odile Decomarmond, announced the six newly appointed head teachers on Thursday 12 January 2017 during the first meeting of the Ministry of Education and Human Resource Development to start the new school year.
Ms Shirley Rose has been appointed as the new head teacher at Pointe Larue Primary. She replaces Ms Anne Marie Servina.
Following successful completion of her teacher education training in 1986 at the then School of Education, Ms Shirley Rose worked as a teacher for 16 years, during which time she was posted to Cascade Primary, Anse Boileau Primary and Anse Aux Pins respectively.
In 2005 Ms Rose was promoted to Subject Co-ordinator at Anse Aux Pins Primary. She followed the Advanced Diploma in Educational Leadership programme in 2009 and successfully completed the course of study in 2010. She was thereafter promoted as Deputy Head teacher at Bel Eau Primary School.
Ms Merna Albert has been appointed to the post of head teacher at Au Cap primary school and replaces Mrs. Fatima Agathine.
Ms Merna Albert began her teaching career in 2004 after having completed her teacher education training at the then National Institute of Education (NIE). She subsequently worked at Anse Aux Pins, Silhouette and Baie Ste Anne respectively and her tenure as a teacher has been characterised by high level of commitment and dedication towards the profession. In 2013 she successfully completed a Bachelor in Primary Education with the Edith Cowan University (ECU).
In 2014 she enrolled on the Masters in Leadership and Strategy in Social Domain for two years under the auspices of the Young Leaders Programme and graduated with 2nd class Honours. She gained promotion to Subject Co-ordinator in 2015 and was posted to Grand Anse and thereafter to Anse Boileau in 2016.
Ms Agnelle Monthy has been appointed the head teacher of Baie Lazare primary and she replaces Mrs Solange Ballette.
Ms Agnelle Monthy graduated with a Diploma in Primary in 1997 at the then School of Education and worked as a teacher for ten years at Mont Fleuri Primary.
She gained promotion to Subject Co-ordinator in 2007 and was posted to Anse Royale Primary. In 2010 she became a holder of an Advanced Diploma in Educational Leadership (ADEL) following a course of study for two years. She was subsequently promoted to Deputy Head Teacher at Anse Aux Pins School.
Ms Barbara Medor has been appointed head teacher of Cascade primary school and replaces Ms Gina Balette who is being transferred to Plaisance primary school as the head teacher.
Ms Barbara Medor completed her teacher education training in 1997 at the then School of Education and worked as a teacher for six years at La Rosiere Primary School.
In 2004 she was promoted to Subject Co-ordinator at Cascade Primary School. She enrolled on the Advanced Diploma in Educational Leadership programme in 2009 and successfully completed the course of study in 2010.
Ms. Jenny Kilindo has been appointed head teacher of Pointe Larue secondary school and replaces Ms Gina Labiche who is being transferred to Anse Boileau secondary as the new head teacher.
Ms. Jenny Kilindo was appointed teacher in January 2007 upon completion of a two year diploma in Secondary Teaching. She then worked as a secondary teacher teaching social sciences. From March 2008 to December 2009 Ms. Kilindo followed a Bachelor in Education for Social Sciences at Edith Cowan University in Australia. She was then transferred to Pointe Larue secondary school.
In 2013, she was the Head of Department for Social Science up to December 2014. In 1996, she was recommended for the post of Deputy Head-teacher for secondary.
Mrs Lina Lesperance has been appointed head teacher of Grand Anse Praslin primary and she replaces Ms Edna Bellard who has been promoted to Coordinator for Islands schools, replacing Ms Bibianne Fred who recently retired.
In 1993 Mrs Lina Lesperance earned her teaching qualification at the then School of Education. She taught for 10 years at Baie Ste Anne Primary.
She was promoted to Subject Co-ordinator in 2003 at Baie Ste Anne Primary where she worked for seven years. She enrolled on the Advanced Diploma in Educational Leadership programme in 2009 and successfully completed the course of study in 2010. She gained promotion to Deputy Head Teacher in 2010 and was transferred to Grand Anse Primary the same year.
