ENROLMENT AND SELECTION

1. The courses on offer are normally advertised through the “Nation” towards the end of the year (November or December).
2. Once courses are advertised, interested candidates can collect the application forms from the ALDEC. In the case of Praslin and La Digue, forms are made available at the respective schools and/or District Administration offices.
3. Completed forms must be returned to the Centre by the given deadline (normally 15 days from the advertisement date). In the case of Praslin and La Digue, completed forms are returned to the respective schools and/or District Administration offices.
4. In cases where an organization enrols an employee or a group of employees on courses, an official letter must accompany the completed form(s).
5. Candidates applying for Mathematics or English ‘O’ Level/IGCSE and/or French ‘O’ level will be called in for proficiency test as necessary.
6. Once the processing of applications has been completed, candidates will be informed of the final outcome in writing.
7. The Centre will start a new course only where the initial enrolment number is ten or more.
8. Courses may be discontinued where there is a high rate of drop out and the cohort is below five candidates.
ACADEMIC CALENDAR
Courses at ALDEC are offered as part-time evening and weekend classes. The academic calendar extends from February to November with three terms of 13-14 weeks and a break of one week in terms 1 and 2 and a seven or eight week break in December and January.
Term 1 14 weeks Break 1 1 week
Term 2 14 weeks Break 2 1 week
Term 3 13 weeks Break 3 7-8 weeks
The above does not apply for modular and tailor-made programmes that are offered upon demand throughout the year.
