POLICY FOR EXEMPTION FROM PAYING TUITION FEES

The Ministry of Education and Youth’s Guidelines for exemption from paying tuition fees provide a framework for granting exemption from paying tuition fees on merit and in accordance with established policy.


1.        The policy provides a tuition fee exemption benefit for the following eligible categories:

        Employees of Ministry of Education and Youth who are Seychellois nationals

        Students in state post secondary institutions

        Candidates in their first post S5 who do not gain direct entry into post-secondary institutions.

2.        Applicants are allowed fee exemption for one course only at any one time.  Individuals may take additional courses but at their own cost.

3.        Fee Exemption will not apply for candidates who want to follow the same course at ‘O’ Level/IGCSE a second time, whether followed at S5 or ALDEC.

4.        Post S5 candidates not in post secondary institutions are eligible for tuition fee exemption for subjects in the National Curriculum.  This excludes modular courses.  Eligibility for fee exemption only applies for the first post S5 year.

5.        Students of post secondary institutions are eligible for tuition fee exemption for a course that is a requirement for    the chosen filed of study.  This excludes modular courses.


6.        Candidates eligible for tuition waiver are required to settle a deposit of one term

tuition fee for the specific course upon registration.

7.        Exemption covers tuition only; all other related fees (facilities, examination fee, etc.) are the responsibility of the candidates.
